Needle felted woolly sculptures.

Elaine uses cleaned and carded fleece wool over a wire armature to produce one of a kind woolly sculptures. She is heavily inspired by nature and in particular British wildlife. Each large sculpture takes many hours of repeated poking of the wool fibres with specially barbed needles to bind the fibres together, allowing her to shape the wool into a recognisable form. Elaine enjoys the tactile nature of the wool and using the natural fibres to blend together to produce different shades and colours to add depth and realism to her work.
